• Line: A mark that spans between two points, can be straight, curved, thick, thin etc.
• Form: Three - dimensional quality of an object (like a cube, sphere etc., having height, width and depth).
• Color: Composed of hue (the name of the color like red, blue), value (lightness or darkness of a color) and intensity (brightness or dullness of a color).
• Shape: Two - dimensional area defined by edges. Can be geometric (circle, square) or organic (free - form, like a shape of a leaf).
• Space: The area around, between or within components of a piece of art. Can be positive (occupied by objects) or negative (empty areas).
• Value: The lightness or darkness of a color. Used to create contrast and depth.
• Texture: The surface quality or "feel" of an object (can be actual, like the rough texture of a stone, or implied, like when an artist paints strokes to make us think of a rough surface).
