Question

according to \the world on turtles back,\ which best demonstrates the iroquois view of women?
women were viewed as clumsy and poor at making decisions.
women were viewed as helpless without the support of men and animals.
women were respected because they helped create and sustain the world.
women were worshipped because they were the descendants of a goddess.

Explanation:

In "The World on Turtle’s Back," the Iroquois view of women is one of respect. Women are portrayed as having a crucial role in creating and sustaining the world (e.g., the role of the woman who falls from the sky and her actions in the creation story). The first option is incorrect as it presents a negative, inaccurate view. The second option is wrong as women are not depicted as helpless. The fourth option is incorrect because women are not worshipped as descendants of a goddess; rather, they have a respected, creative role.

Answer:

C. Women were respected because they helped create and sustain the world.
