Question

which scenario is an example of a theme for a story? dorothy is a dreamer who wants to see other places. bilbo goes on a journey and becomes a hero. the story takes place in a dark, dense forest. good always triumphs over evil in the end.

Explanation:

A theme is a central idea or message of a story, a general statement about life or human nature.

• The first option describes a character's trait (Dorothy being a dreamer), which is a character description, not a theme.
• The second option is a plot summary (Bilbo's journey and becoming a hero), focusing on events, not a central message.
• The third option is a setting description (where the story takes place), not a theme.
• The fourth option, "Good always triumphs over evil in the end", is a universal message about the nature of good and evil, fitting the definition of a theme.

Answer:

D. Good always triumphs over evil in the end.
