Question

multiple choice question
the first civilization in the aegean region developed

on the island of crete
on the island of knossos
in the minoan mountains
on the greek mainland

Explanation:

The first civilization in the Aegean region was the Minoan civilization, which developed on the island of Crete around 2600 BCE. Knossos was a major palace complex within the Minoan civilization, not a separate island. The Minoan civilization was centered on Crete, not the Greek mainland or "Minoan mountains" (a non-standard term). Thus, the correct answer is "on the island of Crete".

Answer:

on the island of Crete
