Question

choose the answer to fill in the blank, which best completes the sentence. choice of medium allows the artist to ______ a. convey different messages. b. experiment with combining materials to create new media. c. reconnect with old forms of art. d. improve realism in art, particularly with portraits. please select the best answer from the choices provided a b c d

Explanation:

• Option a: Different art mediums (e.g., oil paint vs. charcoal) have unique properties that can help artists convey distinct messages. For example, oil paint's richness might suit a grand, emotional message, while charcoal's rawness could fit a more introspective one.
• Option b: Combining materials to create new media is about developing new mediums, not the primary purpose of choosing an existing medium.
• Option c: Choosing a medium isn't mainly about reconnecting with old art forms; it's about expression through the medium's characteristics.
• Option d: Not all mediums aim for realism, and the choice of medium isn't solely to improve realism (e.g., abstract art uses mediums too). So a is the best fit.

Answer:

a. convey different messages.
