Question

read the excerpt from \my lord bag of rice\
at last the dreadful night was over. day dawned
beautiful and clear. the centipede was gone from the
mountain.
what historical fact is reflected in this excerpt?
o hidesato brought peace to japan by defeating a
rebel force.
o hidesato was appointed a general by japans
emperor.
o hidesato and his forces overthrew the government
of japan.
o hidesato was given many gifts for helping the
people of japan.

Explanation:

The excerpt mentions that the centipede (a threat) was gone from the mountain, which implies peace was brought. In Japanese history, samurai like Hidesato (a fictionalized version of Taira no Masakado in some interpretations) were known for bringing peace by defeating threats (in this case, the centipede can be seen as a symbolic rebel force). The other options (appointed general - not in excerpt; overthrew government - no; given gifts - not in this part) are not supported by the given text.

Answer:

Hidesato brought peace to Japan by defeating a rebel force.
