Question

democratic socialism in the united states was a failed attempt to inject
socialist ideals into a democratic system.
free - market ideals into a socialist system.
proletariat ideals into a marxist system.
marxist ideals into a free - market system.

Explanation:

To solve this, we analyze the concept of democratic socialism in the US context. Democratic socialism aims to introduce socialist ideals (like social ownership, economic equality) within a democratic framework. The US has a democratic system, so the attempt was to inject socialist ideals into a democratic system. The other options misalign: the US is not a socialist system (so B is wrong), proletariat ideals in Marxist system is redundant (C), and Marxist ideals in free - market is incorrect as democratic socialism is about socialist in democratic, not Marxist in free - market (D).

Answer:

A. socialist ideals into a democratic system
