Question

which question should a reader ask to identify an author’s purpose?
○ why did the author write this text?
○ what evidence does the author provide?
○ what is the author’s opinion on this topic?
○ how effective is the evidence?

Explanation:

To identify an author’s purpose, we need to know the reason behind the author writing the text. The question "Why did the author write this text?" directly targets the author's purpose. The other options focus on evidence or opinion, not purpose.
