but of all who lived here as kings of britain
arthur was ever the noblest, as i have heard tell
so i intend to tell of one adventure that happened

with lords and ladies as they liked it best

then proudly that other knight sets foot on the ground
now arthur has his ax, gripping the handle.
and grimly swings it around, preparing to strike with it
the bold man stood lowering before him
