the whole mass of our people has become alarmed at the agitation of the reds. they are not satisfied with strikes and disorder, but would rob men of property, burn homes, and strike at the heart of our government. the reds would not hesitate to inflame racial hatreds, encourage riots, and stop industry, so that they might bring about the destruction of our system of liberty and law.
it is easy to laugh at the idea of danger from the reds. but the government has found proof of their criminal activity. in their meetings, they preach the duty of armed uprising; in their papers, they teach hatred of property and law; in their bombs, they strike against life and safety.
no greater enemy ever faced america than this evil movement. we must tear out the radical seeds that would destroy our institutions. if we permit the spreading of bolshevism, then american freedom will be but a memory. but if we act firmly, we can preserve our nation for ourselves and our children.\
