Question

draw conclusions about theme
based on the symbols and details in the chart,
which of the following is the best theme statement
for moby - dick?
whaling can be extremely dangerous.
lightning is a destructive force.
scars are common in nature.
nature is destructive and mysterious.
done

Explanation:

The scar resembling a tree struck by lightning and the whale biting off Ahab's leg both show nature's destructive power (lightning and whale as parts of nature). Also, the scar's appearance and the whale's action have an element of mystery (why the scar looks like that, the whale's behavior). The other options are too narrow (whaling danger, lightning only, just scars) compared to the overall symbols.

Answer:

Nature is destructive and mysterious.
